A number of readers have been in touch. 'You have made a mistake' they say with some certainty. 'What's all this about England flying out to South Africa the day after the final match of the one-day series against Australia? Surely the Champions Trophy doesn't start so soon?'
But I can assure you there has been no mistake. The Champions Trophy really does begin on Tuesday when South Africa play Sri Lanka at Centurion. And England really do begin their campaign on Friday with a group game against Sri Lanka in Johannesburg.
I have two issues with this piece of scheduling. The first is simple - there are too many one-day internationals. Rather than further rule changes, just have less matches. Secondly, there's still a round of County Championship matches to come. Is this a first, England going on tour before the domestic season has even finished?
