India and effigies

I see the Indian rent-a-mob is now burning effigies of Lalit Modi on the streets of New Delhi.

Apparently Modi is the ‘King of Black Money’, and the former boss of ‘a den of gamblers and hooligans’. Best of all, he is described as an ‘agent of D Company’ which makes him sound like something from Men in Black.

Who are these protesters, and how do they organise their effigy-based meetings? It seems that there’s one group of people who have cornered the market in photo-friendly effigy-based protests - I’m sure I remember the guy with the red scarf setting fire to Sachin Tendulkar a couple of years ago.

And how come there is always a conveniently-placed press photographer nearby?
