Gloucestershire not good enough for Kirby

I’ve just read that fast bowler Steve Kirby will be looking for another county next season, after Gloucestershire agreed to release him from his contract.

Kirby, the man for whom the adjective ‘fiery’ was invented, apparently wants to play first division cricket so he can keep in the forefront of the England selectors’ minds.

An easier way to stay in the selector’s thoughts might be to take more wickets – surely it’s this year’s measly return of 29 in ten matches which has pushed him away from England selection rather than the fact he plays in Division 2.

Maybe the title of this post should read ‘Kirby not good enough for Gloucestershire’?
