Gloucestershire squad – changes from last season

For those of you who have lost track of the comings and goings at Nevil Road over the winter, here is a quick recap. Of course, I offer no guarantees that this list is 100% accurate – do let me know of any omissions or mistakes!

IN

Muttiah Muralitharan - T20 only (legend)

Kane Williamson (Kiwi, overseas player, young middle-order batsman)

James Fuller (21-year-old Kiwi seamer, not classed as overseas player)

Will Gidman (Alex’s brother, ‘bowling allrounder who bats left-handed’)

David Wade (ex-Army, seam bowler, 27 years old)

Ian Cockbain (23, top-order batsman)

Richard Coughtrie (young wicketkeeper)

Graeme McCarter (Irish, ‘18 year old opening bowler and aggressive batsman’)

OUT

Gemaal Hussain (to Somerset)

Steve Kirby (to Somerset)

William Porterfield (to Warwickshire)

James Franklin

Steve Snell

Kadeer Ali

Rob Woodman

Antony Ireland (to Middlesex)

So, to sum up, all the best players have gone and have been replaced (excepting Williamson and Murali) by promising youngsters and a 27-year-old former soldier with no experience of first-class cricket.

Good luck boys!
