Ebony, Jewel, Sapphire, Teak, Platinum...

In the absence of other cricket today, I was happy to follow England Women as they pulverized their Australian counterparts in a one-day international at Colchester. England Women are so good, it's almost boring.

Despite 68* from Sarah Taylor and and 3-27 from Holly Colvin, the thing that stood out most for me was England's number 6, Ebony-Jewel Rainford-Brent. You might think you know where I'm going here, but you (literally) haven't heard the half of it. The full name of Rainford-Brent, an all-rounder from South London, is actually Ebony-Jewel Cora-Lee Camellia Rosamond Rainford-Brent.

In the absence of much excitement in the game itself, this got me thinking about long names. Of course, everyone knows about Warnakulasuriya Patabendige Ushantha Joseph Chaminda Vaas. But what about Amunugama Rajapakse Rajakaruna Abeykoon Panditha Wasalamudiyanse Ralahamilage Ranjith Krishantha Bandara Amunugama who played first-class cricket for Kurunegala Youth in Sri Lanka? Anyone have an advance on ten initials?
