So, Gloucestershire’s season gets even stranger - two heavy losses followed by three consecutive victories followed by a innings defeat earlier today against Glamorgan.
Once again, it was brittle batting that was the problem as Gloucestershire found themselves unable to bat out the final day. Steve Kirby’s absence (he’s playing for the England Lions against Bangladesh in Derby) can’t have helped either.
But amid the disaster that has been Gloucestershire’s batting this season, one man has not let the team down. Jon Lewis’s scores of 50 and 37* takes his average for the season to over 20.
A promotion up the order beckons for the mop-topped seamer (above). He certainly couldn’t do much worse than Jonathan Batty.
